The Well at Jordan's Farm was my first farm to table experience, and I can't stop praising the restaurant. What an amazing experience! The atmosphere alone deserves five stars. Since we had a small party, we did not get to dine in the private gazebo but sat by the stools facing the "open" kitchen. There are two options on the menu; family style or a la carte. The food was very well done; we ordered the chicken and fish. Though, my personal favorite is the warm bread served at the beginning of the meal. It was so delicious that we had two refills! The honor system where you place cash in the chest adds an unique touch too. So does the pick your own flowers/bouquet adjacent to the restaurant. Not to mention, BYOB! Can't wait to be back with a larger gang and try out the private gazebos!

You can't get any closer to where your food comes from than at The Well. Located on Jordan Farm the chef creates always changing menus based on what's being harvested. The atmosphere is lovely - done in an intimate "shack" with the chefs or select a screened in gazebo. There are open air picnic tables too, but be warned the biting insects are often a nuisance. The food is delicious albeit a bit plain. It's honest good food. Well prepared and of course fresh. While nothing was disappointing I didn't give 5 stars because my meal wasn't outstanding or particularly memorable. The setting took the show.

Outdoor dining in summer Maine, rustic farm, locally owned and sourced = look no farther than here! Food is great but atmosphere is even better! Book the gazebo and get yourself to the outdoor fire pit, enjoy byob style beverages and soak in the scenery. Service is phenomenal! They even have a food coop so u can pay a fee and get a portion of their veggies every week! Cash only place so ATM before u come! Absolute hidden gem!

I have to say that a lot of my amazing/best ever/awesomeness experience stems from the fact that I went with some of my favorite people and we drank roughly 23984705872 bottles of wine. That being said, my experience at the Well at Jordan's Farm would have been fantastic regardless of who came along for the food adventure. First of all, who could not love the atmosphere? Because we were in a big group and had prior reservations (side note: you can only make reservations for a larger group), we sat in a huge gazebo. It even had bluetooth for you to play your own music!!! The gardens were beautiful and there was even a fire pit. I am not normally a big nature girl, but the environment was cozy and comfortable and very peaceful. OMG the food! I loved the bread in bags to start, the delicious meats (chicken, sausage, and a whole fish), and the amazing roasted potatoes. My favorite dish by far was the amazing carrot/other vegetable blend. YUM. A few quick notes: -may be dog friendly (there was definitely an ADORABLE dog wandering around that did not belong to the owners) -cash only -bring a sweater as it may get chilly -its BYOB, which I love because it allows you to drink as much or as little (or none) as you want I will definitely be back!!!!

Beautiful picturesque setting, fresh wonderfully prepared farm to table food...add loving family and byob wine and you have an amazing evening in Cape Elizabeth. We reserved one of the screened gazebos, round table, sipped wine and sampled freshly made warm bread. The menu is small but done extremely well. We started by sharing lamb meatballs. I had the grilled BBQ chicken, wonderful purple potatoes. Others had the halibut ( which looked amazing) perfectly cooked. While the pork loin looked equally amazing. It may be a little pricey, cost wise compared to some high end restaurants in Portland but the money is so much more well spent here. The food fresher, the location beautiful...an amazing place. Next time we take a chance against the bugs and check out the fire pit with seating, or if lucky enough get two of the seats inside the little kitchen hut bar overseeing the great chefs at work.

Last night, a group of us (12 to be exact) got together to visit this hidden gem. When I say hidden, I mean it is really off the beaten track. Located out in Cape Elizabeth on a farm, this beautiful location has several little gazebos for a private dining experience as well as a few open air picnic tables. As we were visiting early in the season, I'd be curious to return and see how the large garden that the gazebos/tables line is looking come August. We had one of the larger (maybe the largest) gazebos for our dinner. We arrived and the table was all set and ready for us. It had been pre-arranged that we would enjoy the family style dining option which included bread, salad, chicken, fish, sausage, cranberry beans, roasted potatoes, and mixed vegetables. I tried a little bit of almost everything and it was all so delicious. Oh, and we even wrapped up with a sweet treat at the end of a fresh (it was still warm) donut with whipped cream and strawberries. The perfect ending to a great meal. This is a small operation - I'd be surprised if there were more than 10 employees working here. We had a couple of different people serving us. While the service wasn't overly attentive, it didn't feel lacking. We had everything we needed and when we asked for anything, it was brought quickly. This is a great location for a get together with friends and the smaller gazebos would be a great romantic dinner spot.

The Well at Jordan's Farm is a cute restaurant located on a working farm in Cape Elizabeth. It would be an ideal spot for a romantic date night or for families. With outdoor tables (wear bug spray), seating near the fire or in screened gazebos, it's sure to please almost anyone. Our party of 12 basically had our own world in the gazebo. Since The Well is BYOB (why aren't all restaurants???) we brought 12 bottles of wine and drank 10. By the end of dinner it was apparent that the gazebos are perfect for large, loud parties. While you can order a la carte, we opted for the family style dinner (normally $45 each) which includes ample portions of roasted chicken, sausage, a whole hake, potatoes, beans, veggies, bread, salad and a hot homemade donut for dessert. The only mild disappointment was the fish, which still included some bones and was less flavorful. Everything else was delicious and my food coma still lingers. It's a cash only business and you leave your money in a "treasure chest" near the kitchen. It's charming to see somewhat of an honor system still in play. I'm excited to return later in the season to see what fresh new offerings the farm has in store!

Our family style dinner the other night at The Well at Jordan's Farm was picturesque, full of laughs, and delicious food shared by all. The adorable gazebos that you can reserve give you the feel of being secluded but still out in the open. They have adorable hanging candles as well that hang about the tables (see photos). If it's just two of you, you can also sit at the picnic tables and enjoy the fire pit! Also remember folks it's CASH ONLY! We had a multiple course family style meal and the staff was very gracious and willing to answer any questions. Honestly the roasted vegetables were my favorite - the mushrooms cooked to a perfect consistency and the yellow carrots just melted in my mouth. Out of the meats (hake, sausage and chicken) the roasted chicken with house made BBQ sauce was my favorite. The skin was just crispy enough and the chicken tender (not too dry which happens too often at places). Atmosphere at this place is definitely a 10/10. Food is an 8/10 BUT I would definitely come back just to bask in that atmosphere and try more dishes off their menu. The desert itself is something I would bike out there for - house made donut with cinnamon sugar + homemade creme and fresh strawberries. Definitely kid (and dog!) friendly - bring the family! I'd say it would be great for family gatherings (8-10 people max) especially.

The atmosphere was magical and the food unforgettably delicious. What a special place to enjoy amazing, fresh, and local food. The bread was to die for with a warm and soft inside and crusty outside. The doughnut was the best I've ever had. They don't sell alcohol and we enjoyed bringing our own wine (with no corkage fee)

The Well offers the most quintessential al freso and ultimate farm-to-table/seasonal dining experience in the area. Our large party of twelve people had made a reservation far in advance, so we were seated in one of the charming, screened-in gazebos near rows and rows of lettuce seedings. It felt as though we were sitting right in the middle of a garden! The gazebo itself was wooden and low lit to create the perfect romantic spot for family and friends alike. I appreciated that the servers were so hands-off, creating a feeling of self-sufficiency amongst our party (I also appreciated how loud they let us be; I'm sure in any other situation we would have been told to be quiet - but we were truly just in love with each other that night and couldn't stop excitedly talking over one another like some happy, dysfunctional, beautiful family). They showed up only a handful of times to drop off water, cups for our BYOB choices, and our food. But for the most part, it felt as though we were having a dinner party at a close friend's house. Other people milled about, children played games, dogs wrestled in the grass... it was very, very organic in every sense of the word. The addition of the fireplace nearby as the night grew darker was lovely and homey. And the fireflies winking goodbye to us at the end of the night was a perfect, natural touch... the ambience is truly unmatched. My lone hiccup was just the food. As a vegetarian, I didn't think it was anything extraordinary. I ate bread and butter, a salad (greens, caramelized onions, cukes, tomatoes, blue cheese), roasted parsnips and asparagus, grilled potatoes, beans, and had dessert (a warm donut with whip and strawberries). There was also an entire fish, BBQ chicken, and large sausages for the main course for my friends (I admit, I left hungry and wish that they had offered me a vegetarian main course of some kind). And while everything was good... the food just wasn't memorable. So, I've been asking myself: would I come back here? I'm not entirely sure I necessarily would anytime soon since my experience here wasn't anything I couldn't - and don't already - do in my own backyard (only for vastly cheaper and with food I actually like). But I have the special circumstance of a backyard with a fire pit and a garden and quirky decorations; that's a luxury maybe most people living in congested cities of Maine don't have (because of space or time or lack of a green thumb, whatever). I think this place would be magical for a gathering of a celebration of some kind with people you adore - and, I'd love to come back in a situation like that where I could also try something off their normal menu (and, since they're so seasonal, seeing how the food options change throughout the summer).

We visited "The Well" during a birthday trip for my mother's 60th birthday. I tried to make reservations for my party of 4 adults and 2 children but was told reservations are only for parties of 6 adults or more- however if I arrived before 5:30- there usually wasn't a wait. Of course- it took us longer than expected and we arrived just before 6- and there was a short wait. If you have never been here before it can be a little confusing... Do you just seat yourself? (no, you need to go to the counter first to see if anyone is waiting before you) Which door do you go into? (fyi it's the left door) There were people coming from all different directions. The couple that drove in after us, actually went in the other door- and thus they ended up at the counter first. At the counter is where you do two things. 1) you put your name for a table in. 2) After they call you for a table and you get seated- you then go back to the counter in the little building and then place your order for your entire party and pay. You will need to order your whole meal at once. Appetizer/Salad/Entree and Dessert. It's just much easier this way. Back to our picnic table. We got settled in- some of us went to sit by the campfire they had going, others stayed and enjoyed the BYOB. They brought bread and yummy butter in a bag to start, and then salads quickly followed. My salad was DELICIOUS! And the bacon on it was thick and salty/smoky. When it came time for dinner to be served. One of the chicken entrees we ordered was missing. It happened to be my mother's- we were told it was 'coming right out'. But it didn't. Then we were told they would give us a free donut (the nights dessert)... and we waited. Everyone had finished their meals before the remaining chicken dish arrived. The meals were AMAZING, perfect portions, deliciously prepared, fresh veggies. Then it was time for dessert. Guess what? They forgot our extra donut. This is why maybe paying ahead of time isn't the best idea. I feel there was very little done to resolve the situation. It was kind of embarrassing since this was a SPECIAL dinner for my mother. However, the dessert was absolutely delicious. The donut was perfectly cooked and the strawberry compote it was served with was sweet. I could have eaten like 5 of these. Overall, we were happy. The food was great, the setting was wonderful. We will definitely come back. Next time I will come early- or bring a larger party and reserve one of their screened in gazebos. It is definitely a place to check out, and hopefully my tips won't help you feel so confused like we did!

This dining experience was easily the best of the year for us. The food was gourmet simplicity. The surroundings are as unique as they are beautiful and the staff seems to well understand the special energy of the place. Sitting among the wildflowers and vegetable gardens of Jordan Farm in the setting sun is enjoyable enough as it is, add the delicious breads, appetizers and entrees to the postcard picture and it becomes legendary. I ordered a poached lobster starter, which was served perfectly over fresh off the vine tomato and Chicken Confit served over mashed potatoes. Everything was spectacularly fresh and vibrant. Do not be timid to go the distance with this menu- Salads, Breads, Starters, Entrees and Dessert, there wasn't a weakness amongst them. (Don't forget to bring the wine) This place is special, a real charmer!

Had dinner here last night with friends, in one of the gazebos. It was outstanding! We chose the 5-course tasting menu, which was $55 per person. Not exactly cheap but we felt it was worth it. The portions were decent and we did not leave hungry. The food is simple, elegant and fresh. We started with a raw blue fin tuna over pickled cabbage with mustard seeds - fresh, clean flavors, perfect start to the meal. Next came a salad that had the great flavor of just picked lettuces with a mild blue cheese and perfectly caramelized onion. Next was out favorite dish, by far - lamb ricotta meatballs with arugula and shaved parmesan - amazing. They were so good that we actually ordered another plate of them. Following this, we had a duo of pork - tenderloin and bbq pulled. It was great, served with fresh carrots just pulled from the garden. The meal finished with their housemade doughnut which was a huge hit with everyone. I loved the farm atmosphere, the peacefulness, the friendly staff. Also love that it's BYOB so you can pick exactly what you want to have with dinner. And lastly, the bread is ridiculously good - I could eat an entire loaf!! Don't forget though - CASH ONLY.

Food utopia on a near perfect summer night. It was more than just the unique setting, it's about good local food prepared perfectly. The setting was the gravy. Sat inside and don't be afraid to sit in front of the chef and his helper. He does a fantastic job with nearly a one man show. Chicken dish was perfection as was the fish. Salads don't get any fresher, then again..everything is locally sourced. Get there early, the secret is out of the bag... I would go back in a second. The farm and "The Well" are two separate entities..so don't call the farmstand.. Bring your CASH, your bug spray and your love for local fresh food.
